The team behind the reviews.

The Tree Firm is Sam and his team of qualified arborists, based in Waltham Abbey and working across Essex, Hertfordshire and London. Tree removal, pruning, hedges, stumps and clearance, quoted and done by the same people.

Sam runs The Tree Firm from Waltham Abbey, with a team of fully qualified arborists. The team is City & Guilds NPTC qualified, we are Lantra Awards approved, and we are fully insured.

Most of our work is for homeowners across Essex, Hertfordshire and London: a tree that has grown too big, a hedge that needs taking back, a stump to grind out or a garden to clear. We are open 24 hours, seven days a week, so if a tree comes down in a storm you can ring us at any hour.

What our customers write about most is not just the tree work. It is that we turn up when we say, explain what the tree needs, work safely, charge a fair price, and leave everything clean and tidy with all the waste taken away.

Sam and his team

No call centre and no sales team. Sam comes to look at the tree, gives you the price, and is there with the team on the day. The name on the reviews is the name at your door.

What people ask before they book

Who will actually do the work?

Sam and his team. Sam comes to look at the job and gives you the price, and the work is done by our own team of qualified arborists.

Are you qualified and insured?

Yes. The team is City & Guilds NPTC qualified, we are Lantra Awards approved, and we are fully insured.

Do I need permission to cut down or prune a tree?

Sometimes. If a tree has a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or stands in a conservation area, you usually need consent from the local council before work is done. Check with your council before any work starts. We can advise on what to ask and what the work involves.

Do you take the waste away?

Yes. We clear up as we go and take all the waste away with us, so the garden is left clean and tidy.

Do you do emergency call-outs?

Yes. We are open 24 hours, seven days a week. If a tree or large branch has come down or looks unsafe after a storm, ring us and we will tell you what we can do and how quickly.

How much will it cost?

It depends on the tree, the access and what needs to happen to the waste, so we come and look first and give you a clear, fair price for the job before anything starts.
